so having been tempted by the Le Man copy on here I find myself with a slipping clutch problem to deal with. The first 3 mile test ride I find the clutch slipping under load. Back at home looking through and around the inspection window there are oil deposits and plenty under the motor at the bell housing.

So is the only explanation for this the engine output seal going or is there an overflow pipe or other possible explanation ?

I knew it would be a hands on bike but not quite so soon.:blast

Gearbox out 4 you....

Feck... :(

Sorry but it really should be totally dry in there, no overflows or breathers, just oil seals.

I guess it’s one way of getting to know your bike :thumb

The good news will be the seal. The bad news would be the pressed in circular plate has decided to let go.

I have a load of spare seals if you need one Ash.

that's what I thought but praying it would be something easier to deal with :blast:blast:blast:blast

yeah that is the only positive I can see so far and at least the bike does appear to run nicely and it sounds just amazing ! bitter sweet that sums up most old bikes as far I can tell :comfort:thumb

It's worth having a look at the breather pipe on the top of the engine, if it has one. If they get clogged or if the rubber degrades, which it frequently does, it can throw out a lot if oil.

thanks yes I had checked them and they were indeed cracked but not throwing oil everywhere :beerjug:
