What is this relay for? Is it standard from factory?
Anyone know?

It is a BMW marked relay. Wonder is its for the heated grips? My bike is quite standard, no ABS or ESA.. 2006

It is a BMW one, mine is standard but same as you I have heated grips

According to the Haynes manual on page 7.24 it is the starter relay...might be best to leave alone!!

Its the Starter relay on early GS .
later bikes had it moved to under the BMSK ecu. ( under the fuel tank)

Good info... Thanks to all.

I wish mine was that clean, this is after I finally got my bike back from the Iceland trip. Gonna take months to clean it. :D

It wasn't a picture of my bike, although mine was nearly as clean.
That's a lot of jet washing coming.
