Have you compared how thorough and reliable Garmin's traffic data tends to be, vs TomTom, Waze or Google Maps? Especially in urban areas like London and its outskirts.
Many years ago I remember that TomTom was much better than Garmin for this, but I have no idea if it's changed. A big plus of TomTom was that it had partnered with Vodafone to infer traffic data.
Also, Waze is very popular with minicab drivers, so there are many users contributing to traffic informations.
I have no idea where Garmin gets its data, though.
