Hi hi,

Like a few others I’ve returned to land of horizontally opposed pistons. I’ve also relocated to Big Rock, Little California (Hastings, East Sussex). I’ve purchased a 1996 R1100GS to have as a road going project. I’m giving my self 12 months to slowly go from the deep sea storage space it appears to have been for a few years to something I am happy to show off. I rode it home from Chiswick with a three week old MOT log book and some service history. Dangerously ponderous steering, 8lb front and back, resolved very quickly, suggests the MOT was completed remotely.....
It’s got some home done after market electrics I plan to get shot of and revert to factory only electrics, possibly with exception of a plug in for Sat Nav. I finding turning pages on an atlas at anything over thirty quite tricky.
First thing to resolve
Leaky oil cap on left hand cylinder, new one ordered just hoping it’s the cap and not the internal thread.
Would any one have any suggestions of it is the internal.

Thanks for letting me back

LC

Never heard of it being the internal thread / often heard of them needing a new 'O' ring.
All the best with it! :)

there are 2 O rings, one on the cap and one on the filler neck

but the supplier should have told you that !

usually the culprits (the O rings not the suppliers)
