K1100LT Petrol Cap without a Key - looking for some help.

Before major surgery (hammer and chisel) is there a way of removing a locked petrol cap without a key? Its a "barn find" so no key and its being broken for parts. The cap is not that important but the tank is good.

Use any K series key, insert onto cap lock and turn, if it doesn't turn just turn the key harder until it does..

Once opened you can undo the barrel holder (three screws) and remove the tumbler section and repair/replace it.

My God, scotes reading this will be pouring sugar and sand into K1100 petrol tanks on a daily basis. They already pour sand into the oil fillers of all BMW engines. I read it here.

PS Be sure not to drop the three screws into the tank, when removing.
