    I'll check their catalogue later.

I booked into a nice little guesthouse in Oberstdorf run by a quant elderly couple. The male Mein Host was very entertaining although a bit camp... think Joel Grey (The Emcee in Cabaret) meets Larry Grayson.

Charmed by their hospitality I booked for a couple of nights.

The scenery around Oberstdorf wasn't too shabby either.

With Essex going into Tier Two from Saturday it was time to head for home. Also the weather had turned with cloud, rain and snow amongst the forecast. So I took the autobahn north and booked a hotel in Aachen for my last night before the dash to the Tunnel.

Brilliant trip report. Autumn is a great time to go. I went to the Eifel region at the end of September with a mate and we had a great time. Did the same as you, used the tunnel and blitzed it across northern France and Belgium without stopping so no need to quarantine. Happy days

No Bounce or Nutty style gluttony on this trip.... so attempted to keep the calorie count down.

    Apart from beer obviously.

I love Schiltach too but have only stopped for lunch before.
Where did you stay as I'm also a fan of weiss bier?

That looked a lovely short trip away and the pictures 'almost' make me want to visit Germany, only 'almost' though........

Best time of year to be away on the continent on a bike too

I stayed at the Hotel-Gastof Zum Weyssen Rossle in Schiltach which was great. The guy who owns it rides a bike and is also the Chef plus his wife Rosie was so friendly and made me feel right at home.

    No. Thank you Mr Dave.

If you can navigate to the Travel Section there is a nice man called Mr Wapping (not Wrapping or Whooping... so get it right). He has copious knowledge of all things travel related and loves publishing the odd German route or rout as our American friends pronounce them.

Tell him you want to drag your long suffering sister along and don’t want to miss a thing! HTH
