Can anyone tell me the paint code for 1150GS silver wheels, I managed to scratch mine today fitting tyres.

could be cerakoted...?

we did a set for someone ages ago in bright aluminium or nickel I can't recall

Only need to touch in a couple of scratches rather than paint the whole wheel. I’ve found some posts that suggest Wurth Silver Wheel paint is a good match, but surely there must be a proper BMW paint code?....

Hammerite smooth silver, pretty good match for my 02 1100s and my 05 GS.

Al.

My 1999 r1150 gs definitely did not have polished nor painted aluminium rims it had anodised silver rims

Are they alloys by any chance? As above, never seen paint on spoked wheels...

What this Person says !!!

Centre Hubs are coated or painted but the rims are always anodised or alloy Seen some chrome ones too) so it looks like you are going to have to guess

Also really when you brush it in to the scratches, Unless some cnut is picking holes in your bike? No one will notice Well unless you use a black marker or household emulsion

Interesting. They may well be anodised then, but if they are it’s pretty soft anodising, it’s also buggered now because I polished out the scratches with fine Emery. Ho hum. Bollocks

how thick is anodising...?

my guess <2 microns wouldn't take much to get past it... cerakote is about 4-7 microns but harder...

Taking it to the local wheel repair specialists to see if they can touch it up, otherwise it’s rebuild/powder coat time!

why powder, my guess the original would be acid processed/ chromic which is softer more subtle treatment but hardcoat anodised would be fine plus it's an interesting process if they let you watch it.. :)

yup that would be my choice take it to anodiser and have it hardcoated...

powder would look shit on a spoked wheel plus would it flex enough to stay in place..?

I use metro by far the best down here

http://www.metroplating.co.uk/

look for sulphuric acid anodising...

we use them but that's for large runs of new stuff not really to do refinishing... they'll have something like that up'td norf...

best find a local place or anyone who does english blue... it's a hand finish used on expensive shotguns no idea how much that would be but it's a process that gives a specific look.

Or cerakote which we do but the wheel would need to be stripped and rebuilt.

Have you got OCD by any chance?

there is something in that ... :)
