Been thinking about replacing my exhaust, looking to decat the system For full exhaust sound. I know a few might not agree but I’ve owned lots of Harley’s and Buells and like a bike with open exhaust sound. I have seen and heard several ATs with open systems and think they sound great, love the look of SC titanium systems but need to retain the pillion pegs and be able to fit my panniers without having them melted by the exiting exhaust gasses. Any one on here have decat systems fitted or recommendations, would I need a remap?

I had a full system on my AT, for about four trips then removed the headers.

Too loud and without wanting to spend the dosh on a remap it wasn't for me.

Mines was Akrapovic and yes you will need to remap or ride it as is and wreck your engine.

No, you don't need a remap if it retains the lambda sensor in the same place. I've had mine on for 20k miles or so.

Thanks for the info Mike what make is your system, I'm not searching for more power just like the bike to sound RIGHT.

Great image, me and my mate who also rides an AT have just booked a cottage in Fort William for next July, we will be up there with our partners planning on riding some of the great routes around the west coast, and possibly some of the north coast route. your lucky to have all those great roads within 1/2 a days ride from you.

Full Arrow Ti pipe fitted on mine for about 14k miles now. I did get a Hilltop remap which made it sooo much more responsive low to mid range :hide
It’s probably got a tad noisier as the packing wears out and I’ve actually recently fitted the Arrow cat in it which has taken the noise back down a notch and it doesn’t pop and bang on the overrun like before which I’m happier with.
Most of all, I just love the looks of it. :)

There is no way I'd be running a bike of that value, long term on a full system without a remap.

Your money, do as you please.

ARROW system looks great and I guess you get what you pay for, very nice but I see you have removed the Pillion pegs I need to retain mine and be able to occasionally use the Honda Luggage, I am primarily looking for a system which gives the full exhaust noise, having been overtaken whilst in my van by a few ATs with very loud exhaust note that's the noise I want but I can never see what systems are on them at the time.
what make are the front crash bungs please (i don't like scaffolding).

The rear pegs are off because I don’t carry a pillion and only put on for pannier duty.

GSG crash bungs.

Better pic of the pipe... :beerjug:

Why not? It doesn't run lean or have flat spots anywhere, you just don't get any of the performance benefits. That's with the Black Widow system anyway. It's the same dimensions as the stock system just minus the cat/Darth Vader helmet. It may be different with the other larger bore systems, especially those who lose or move the Lambda sensor.

You got a jpeg of the before and after graphs? I'm interested to see if it's worth doing or not as I've just discovered there's a tuning place just along the road from me! Full set up, rolling road and engine dyno. They also make some amazing exhausts and stuff too. Harrison Performance if anyone is looking for someone in the south of Scotland. Done a great job making up pipework for my old XR.

I have somewhere...I think. But my own buttometer tells me how much better it is plus other owners who have ridden mine are impressed with how different/better it is over stock. It’s just more gutsy is how best to describe it.

My buttometer isn't too accurate. In all seriousness though I'll probably not do it but if you can get an extra 10 bhp or something daft like that for a couple of hundred quid I'd maybe be tempted. New suspension will likely be the next buy for my Africa Twin.

Better suspension is the only other upgrade I can seriously think of investing in next, but I’m hesitant to spend big money on it as I don’t know if it would be really worth it.

If you want, next time I’m heading over for a spin round Scotland, you can meet me and have a go on my bike to feel how it goes. :okay
