Kurviger - Webpage update

I have tried to leave the ferry and drive to Portugal. Like you, I am being routed by ferry back to the UK and then through France.

I see you have asked the question on the Kurviger forum, who are working on an answer. At the moment, it looks like the Open Street Map thinks the ferry area gate is locked shut.

I don’t know what routing engine Kurviger uses but certainly Pocket Earth will not allow routing on “private roads” ie those pink and white dashed roads in the dock area - so maybe the issue is an OSM data one

Pocket Earth and Kurviger both use Open Street Map, so the fault would definitely seem to lie there. I tried changing the map in Kurviger but the ferry gates are still locked.

Google Maps knows the gates can be unlocked:

Whilst MyRoute, which no longer uses Google Maps, also thinks the terminal cannot be exited, other than by sailing back to England and driving through France:

ViaMichelin, knows the ferry at Santander can be driven out of:

Perhaps the attached explains the OSM tag that is applied to the roads within the Santander dock area. Although we have egress granted/implied by Brittany Ferries OSM uses the tag access=private (or no)and routing therefore does not happen

I guess Basecamp does not differentiate between one bit of tarmac and the next and will route you over any suitable surface

And of course there is no such word as private in the Google lexicon ...

Yes, there's a reply to that effect, and also that the correction takes a few days to make. For now I've just put a start point outside the gates
