Scottoiler.

I had 28,500 miles from OEM chain on my 1190R, which included Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Road of Bones, Morocco.

Just set it to minimal, the chain doesn't want to be 'wet', just a faint black residue.

I had,nt thought of Tutoro,
Will investigate and read up on that one,,,,
Thank you both for the info...

e-Scottoiler is the best, to my mind - but whether you can justify the cost, is another question.

It allows precise lubrication of the chain and is easily adjusted in use.

Uses that standard Scottoiler reservoir but you can increase with a kind of bladder under your seat.

I have had a Scottoiler on my 2 1190s for over 30K. Works tolerably, but never been impressed with the way it only lubes one side and the middle of the chain. O rings on the inside sometimes never get oiled, it depends on ambient temps and how dirty the chain is. The thing's a waste of time if it rains. The chain is usually rusty the morning after a wet ride unless I tend to it by hand.

Most of the time, a quick wipe of the chain after a days ride with WD40/rag with gear oil on it would do fine. Problem comes on multi day trips. If I was buying an oiler again, I'd probably try a Cobrra or one of the far cheaper hinges knock offs on Aliexpress.

Cheers chaps for input...
never heard of the Cobbra one,
It look so simple to use...i will probably go for that one...
As i aint got 2 brain cells to work...with...:thumby:

A Scottoiler V-system was already in situ when I got my SA-T so I left it in place. I've got the flow just right, and the feeder pipe is in the right place.

On my last 2 long trips (9 day duration) I filled up the reservoir before I left and only used about 40%.

They also do a dual injection accessory which covers both side of the sprocket.

Taa,
Still havent done anything about it yet..
Just dithering still at the moment...

I spoke to them about that, and they said they'd tried it on the 1190 and there was a clearance issue. Since then they have made a new dual dropper that looks like it *might* fit. By that time was fed up fuck arsing around with it and I'd lost interest.

I only really keep it on for the convenience on multi day trips.

I can see that feeding oil to both sides of the chain looks like a better idea than just the one side, but my experience on several bikes with the original Scottoiler is that the chains lasted about 30,000 miles and were only ever adjusted when the back wheel had to come out for a tyre change. If the back of the bike and the wheel are covered in oil the feed rate is too high.

I have a PD Oiler mk3 on both my bikes, does a good job once the flow rate has been set.

The oil is delivered by a wick which puts the oil onto the chain rollers.

Cheaper than the e Scottoiler http://www.pdoiler.co.uk/
