Rickman Metisse

I have fond memories of the XS650 from back in the day

Starting on the interesting bits now, I’m using a pair of Mikuni VM32 carbs so needed different inlet manifolds, £25 worth of aluminium round off ebay and 4 hours on the lathe and miller later and on they go.

WOW !

I can’t wait to see this finished. It looks like it will be a beautiful machine. well done Sir

First time out in the sun, the proportions are spot on, in my opinion the engine looks a better fit than a Triumph engine, the purists will probably be horrified at that statement.

The engine looks great and fills the space a treat. Fabulous and will be better than a triumph powered bike.:beerjug:

I'm not a particular 'purist' but I do prefer the look of the Triumph engine. BUT, I know which engine I would prefer in it, Yamaha every day.

Looking good in the sun - nearly ready for a post lock down summer..... :thumb2....

Looks a stunner Lewisjohn, you will have the best of both worlds, a superb frame and bodywork plus a reliable leak free motor.

Steve

That looks fantastic.

I bet you can’t wait to get it finished and out on the road.

It’s probably an obscene question, but what do feel it would cost to build a bike like that?

I wait with interest on how you're going to sort the exhaust out .... the shape, curves etc will make or break the overall appearance ;)

I’ve spent around £5k so far, I’m budgeting around £600 for the exhaust system, Speedo around £200, and various cables and little bits around £200.
It’ll be around the £6k in total. I’ve got to put a value on it then for insurance purposes.

This is roughly what I’ll be looking for

Having built a 'Cheney' with a unit Triumph twin a few years back, I think that is great value for money these days.
