So I have been renovating the R80ST that I purchased from Kenny just a few months ago, off this very site. The bike ran very well just needed a tidy up. The decision on paint colour is fast approaching and I am somewhat undecided. Thoughts?

Depends if you want to keep it original or give it a funky new colour.

Beamster on ADVRider did her g/s in a metalic green/brown like the F800s. Thread here Factory BMW Kalamata Olive

Stay original by all means. Better resale value, and it stops purists annoying you explaining that you're bike's not original. I suffer this on my red g/s. (was red when I bought it in 2001)

However, you could do something different and be totally original, and, it's just 5 bits to have repainted if you want to return it to original.

If future resale value is important to you then stay original. They’re great bikes and there weren’t that may built as I’m sure you’re aware. However they don’t reach the high prices that relative rarity and a good ride would indicate they might. Non standard colour would harm that even more. If, however, you’re not concerned about value then the worlds your lobster.

Red.

And I for one am glad that the idiots haven’t caught on to how good the ST is .... or the prices will climb and I may find it impossible to buy another one.
Mine is far from standard, as it was a wreck when I got it, so didn’t feel bad in not having it as standard.

OP, if you are after any parts, just ask and I will see if I have it ... if not, others on here may have some of the parts needed.

Keep us all u[dated on progress

Red, had an RT from the same era, that was Red, best colour. Also had a later RT in grey, but for me always thought the Red was the colour :)

Both are nice colours, but in the pre- strip down pic I think the silver grey looks great, so I'd stick with that.

Not my bike, sold it on behalf of Eric ( good friend ). I'd put flames on the sides if it was mine :D
Just popped on to say he is selling ( sorry for minor hi-jack ) his other BMW, a nice R100RS in the 'selling for a friend' section.
Glad you like the bike.......oh and forget the flames !!!

Why not a contrasting metal flake red or silver to add a more modern touch to the bike; just a thought ?

Progress continues
