R80GS 1981 footrest question...

...about a hundredyears ago i won these airhead footrests and gear lever in a raffle at SPC (now Bahnstormers) ... at the time i didn't even have an airhead but kept them as i do most everything.:D.

In the pics the set on the right are the old ones from the burnt out wreck and those on the left the raffle prize. You'll notice that the originals exit the frame bracket out the top whilst the 'new' ones exit out the bottom.

Am I right in thinking these must be effectively a lowering kit?

I think your assumption is correct. They're rather good.

Still narrow though, but I've not found it too much a problem on mine.
 
Looks like a lowering set... along with a shorter gear-change lever as the lower pegs will bring your foot forward as well as down, so shorter change lever would be required.

Looks like a good set up.

Keep on with the updates on the rebuild
 
Also looks like they've designed them to accommodate the rubber inserts that you can get for the standard pegs, back of insert fits in those round holes.
