BMW Atacama Panniers fitted with Giant Loop Adapter Plates

I can't take credit for the original idea of this modification as another guy over on the 850GS Forum did it to his Mosko Moto Panniers

The reason I did this is so when I remove the panniers I don't have the "wedges" left on the bike

So this modification removes the OEM adapter plates and replaces them with the Giant Loop ones

To finish off I just need to fit some short button head flanged screws with captive nuts plus a shot of black gasket sealant to fill the original fixing holes

The Atacama panniers come with removable water proof liners so blanking the holes is purely cosmetic really

Decided to fit another two fasteners at the bottom , also now blanked off the original fixing holes

Love it. Looks great, best of both worlds IMO

That system looks so much better. I dislike those massive pucks and is certainly a deal breaker for me.
