Funnily enough I'm just sorting through my on-bike tool kit and saw this thread.
The below is what I carry on the Husky together with some tape and cable ties (and some nitrile gloves which are essential if you don't want grease inside your bike gloves). If I'm on a bike not running tubes I have a 'Stop & Go' as opposed to the tyre levers/patches etc shown here.
It all fills a US10 by approx 1/3 leaving lots of room, if needed, for other shit and sits on the rear rack.
All the tools here cover jobs I can tackle on the road/trail, no point carrying stuff you can't use, that's where 'recovery' comes in............
PS The virgin is optional but a little Hail Mary before setting off doesn't do any harm
