I have not used the screen adjuster for some time on my 2015 GS and found it was seized, on investigation the rails that it slides down were gumbed up with grease that had turned to almost glue anyway cleaned it off and it now works fine so question should it be lubricated and with what?

Whilst it goes fully down it seems to stop about 15mm from the top of the rails is this normal or do you think the gear mechanism is out of sync

Thanks
Ian

You have to be careful what grease you use on it, as some can swell the rubber bushing. I tend to leave mine dry, but if it is getting a bit tight, put the slightest smeare of rubber grease on the shaft, work it up and down, then wipe it clean to stop any grit and dust sticking to it. Not 100% sure, but I don't think mine uses the full travel of the guide rod. Will check later.

Normal it is. Just checked on my bike 2020 reg and it’s the same as yours.

If you have any Red grease as used on brake calliper seals that should be fine.
