Farewell Longannet

interesting to know they reduced pollution by 40% by injecting gas!
Scotlands biggest polluter gone

How quickly things change: 50 years ago Longannet, Cockenzie and that other one a wee bit south of Weegie land plus another in Fife and their associated super pits were going to provide all the power and employment Scotland needed. Plus a bit to spare from AGR nuclear stations. All gone bar the nukes and they're on their way out. Time for a similar approach to sustainable, low carbon energy methinks.

love my coal burning on the fire, shame its gone, must be some great storys out of that place.

My old boy could tell you a few, he work there in the 70's, he was a grease monkey of some sort, worked on n the fire crew and was a shop steward, anything to get a change of scenery lol

Now you see it, now you don’t.

I viewed it from Bo’ness foreshore. The boom was significantly delayed. And LOUD.
