GS frame numbers ?

Anyone know what the starting numbers were for 1982 ?
The bmw club want to charge me 50 to tell me if my new acquisition was built in '81 or '82

I think they charge if it means getting a letter from BMW OEM to prove the age of the bike for DVLA.

If you type the VIN number in Real OEM it comes up with the year and month of manufacture

I've had an email from BMW confirming it was manufactured in sept '81, but they dont have any other details on record any more

Mine was September 1981 as well.
Do you know will the DVLA accept an e mail or do you need a certificate to prove date of manufacture ?

From DVLA Website

Vehicles exempt from vehicle tax
If your vehicle was built before 1 January 1981, you can stop paying vehicle tax from 1 April 2021.

I have another year to wait as mine's a January 1981 bike. Looks like it's got to be over 40 years old, not 40 years old.

DVLA want a BMW headed letter as proof.

I've been waiting nearly a year and I'm still waiting as BMW aren't doing letters at the moment!
