Looks like it might be a stand-off for the luggage. I wonder where the other end is fixed to though - eek!

Click to expand... To keep the 'pannier' from falling into the wheel? ...maybe it joins up with the rod coming off the top of the shock i like it, purely coz it would drive the purists nuts.

The space & the frame rails must limit options with a bike, so probably a Mikuni, although I did hear of a guy who fitted a twin choke Weber.
