Footloose, glad you are pleased with the result . I have'nt heard of anyone
sourcing themale connector to that wee socket tho' many have tried.

Harry, I did get a part number from an AdvRider poster who apparently sourced a connector from "HERMY'S TIRE & CYCLE"
http://www.hermys.com/

The part number was BM99000001098 which doesn't look like a BMW part number.

I sent them an email asking if I could get the part but didn't receive a reply.
But I'm quite happy with your solution and I wouldn't bother to change it.

Brian.

R1200GS GPS connector

The connector is from Tyco Electronics of MQS series,
part no 2-867082-3.
A Pin has the part no 963728-2; a sealing 967067-2.

The connector is not exclusively for BMW so that I should be possible to buy it at any dealer selling Tyco Electronics parts.

I can make a picture of the parts but I may not post attachments,
so somebody has to provide help.

Regards

Dietmar

P.S: I've got the parts as a sample from a business source.

Dietmar,
Are those the part numbers for the male connector that will plug into the GPS connector which is part of the BMW wiring loom. I want to obtain a connector that I can put on the end of my GPS lead and plug into the connector on the bike. Does the part numbers you quote do this?

Thanks

Ian

YES, it does !

The connector housing is also from Tyco (ex AMP).
Perhaps you will find it without the leading digit "2".
Otherwise try a written order with that part no -
or (which would be better)
somebody should collect all individual orders and place a "real" order ?!

Regards

Dietmar

P.S. I've just checked the part no with the source of my information (German R12GS forum) - it's correct with the leading "2" ! => written order recommended

I'm sorry,

the part no is 2-967082-3.
Nevertheless I tried to find that no in www.tycoelectronics.com but couldn't.

Dietmar,

I have tried to place an order for the above part number with my TycoAmp dealer but they insist that this part number doesn't exist, therefore I cannot place an order.

Can you please confirm the correct part number? How did you obtain the part?

Thanks

Ian

@Ian

I've read the part no in the german R12GS Forum.
Then I used a business contact to order a sample.

A few days later I've got the parts with the no's listed above.
My mistake is due to a wrong written on the plastic bag.

Extraordinary is the white colour of the housing...

Maybe somecody can confirm the no from a BMW cable.

Regards

Dietmar

I have been following this up. I can find one of the items you mention on the Farnell website http://www.farnell.com/uk but I cannot find the housing anywhere. I have tonight filled in a customer information form at the Tyco Electronics website. I would really like to get the proper plug, and I am irritated that when I find these 3 and 4 way connector pieces they are only pence (well like £0.50 per piece). BMW want £40.00 for what appears to be a cable for the Nav I which has got the dedicated R1200GS connector on the other end. I have taken a photo of the connector on my bike and the two numbers moulded into it are.

tyco 2-1452150-1
and on the other side of the inner housing 2-965328-3

I have looked on the Tyco site and I have printed out a product sheet with what looks exactly the same shaped plug (IE the one attached to the bike) and that part number seems to be 2-967642-2.

If you are still interested and would like to see what I have discovered please send me your email address and I will forward you the pictures and documents that I have downloaded from the various websites.

Regards

Chris

I guess I ought to make it clear that whilst I am making progress in tracking down the parts required to make up a cable, I am not there yet!!.

I have gleaned some information from the Tyco and Farnell websites, but the vital part (the body) so far eludes me. I will post any further information here as soon as I get hold of it.

Regards

Chris

Having followed this thread, I would be very interested in the connector, as I`m sure would many others. Maybe if someone is successful in locating the connector, we could have a ukGSer order. A large order may reduce the cost. What do you think?

I can confirm that the part number on the white male connector I have for my Nav 11 is: 2-967082-3. It also has AMP and >PBI GF20<

Hope this is of help.

I recommend that somebody from the automotive business out of the forum place the order at his business contact.
I did it the same way.
Unfortunately free samples are limited.

I have just received the following email from Tyco Electronics UK. So Deitmar maybe your source would be the only chance of obtaining the plug housing itself

Hi Chris,

With regard to your enquiry, Part No.2-967082-3 is restricted to BMW, but the other two parts are not. Please could you tell me how many you need and I will see if I can supply small quantity as samples of
P/Nos.963728-2 and 967067-2. I cannot get samples of P/No.2-967082-3.

Kind regards

Sally

BMW GPS Power Connector Part No.

Hi everyone,

The holy grail you are looking for (The female connecter on the BMW wiring loom) is BMW part no. 83.30.0.413.586, you will find it on the BMW EPC for the R1200RT page 61_2486 item 7, it comes with 3 wires already attached about 12" long (they are all yellow??) price around £9.00.
The male connector is item 6 on the same page.
