Super glide sport......

Agreed re. the Supertrapp. Mine came with one on and it is a quality bit of kit and can be adjusted regarding your preferred noise level. (I tend towards the quieter end of the decibel range nowadays, nice sound but not all 'look at me' offensiveness). They are damned expensive though.

What’s wrong with “look at me” offensiveness? :p

........

That looks a bit special :thumb2

I had a Dr John/Supertrapp combo on an old tuned Guzzi of mine........... It spat all the discs out on the M1 smashing the headlight of a following car. When we both pulled over onto the hard shoulder the driver, bless him, just sat there holding the steering wheel and as white as a sheet :D

Plus Brake lines and upgraded cam chain runners

The logo on the chrome battery cover is double sided tape - have that off and rattle can the chrome satin black.

job done.

Or just eliminate the battery cover and leave the black battery exposed, which is how they came.

When you change the tensioners is also a good time to change to a better cam which really woke mine up, and gave it a nicer sound as well.

Stainless braided lines, DP pads, and a good brake flush really improved the braking.

Personally I like the twin mufflers with crossover on the Super Glide Sport, something like these https://www.sscycle.com/products/gr...s-with-staggered-exhaust-fxd-fxdb-etc-chrome/ which also come in black if that's what you prefer.
For a 2 into 1 RSR makes really nice ones. https://rbracing-rsr.com/lsr21blackhole.htm#buttplugs

Thanks Clifton, looks good advice:thumb
Done a couple of hundred miles on it now. So far so good, love it!
Comfort is good, engine is lovely, great torque, so I’m happy........
New tyre going on today (Avon) front already has a new Avon on.
I have noticed the left shock is leaking so probably fecked. Any recommendations on after market replacement. Don’t want to spend on ohlins or Wilbers, just want a decent set of shocks at a reasonable cost.

Pipes aren’t as loud as i thought but still pretty intrusive. I do have the originals with the bike which are in great nic. If I put them back on, would I have to have the injection adjusted at all?

Over the next few months, I think I will fit the s&s hydraulic cam tensioners, and upgraded oil pump and will probably fit something like S&S 509 cams and 2into 1 exhaust at the same time.

Brakes are good when you really pull on them, rear is fine. I will flush them through and fit new pads. Hoses look like fairly new black braided type, so will leave them.

Thanks for all the info........

I did put Ohlins on my Dyna but they were the budget end. Decent quality but not daft money for remote reservoirs etc. which would be pretty pointless in my view. Progressive Suspension seems a popular option but the Ohlins I got were comparable in cost. I know which I would prefer.

I run Progressive - happy enough for the style of bike..

Be happy with Ohlins as well - as they are on my Triumph..

When one of mine leaked I replaced them both with Works shocks which were sprung to my weight and the correct height. IIRC they were about the same cost as stock shocks. I wonder if the bike was remapped for the aftermarket exhaust? If not it'll probably run better with the stock exhaust back on. But back then HD offered a basic re-flash so it may have had that done.
When I added the SE airbox mod and barely louder SE slip-ons the dealer flashed the ECM (with an "off road tune" for $150) to allow for them and to eliminate any popping, etc. and it worked. I recall riding the stock bike to the dealer after I'd installed the stuff and the bike ran worse than stock, but after the flash it ran better than ever. But those days are over, over here at least. If/when you change the cams would be a good time to settle on the exhaust you want and airbox mod which eliminates most of the back plate to allow more air (and intake noise) then have it dyno-tuned. I had mine done using TTS and it really ran nice. http://www.mastertune.net It wasn't cheap though.

I've got a set of stock shocks from my FXDB if they're of any use; 12" eye to eye, had done about 6k before they were taken off. Might get you by until you find something you like, I replaced them with 14" Hagons for better ride height.

That’s a very generous offer, thank you very much.:thumb

Thank you, but I won’t take you up on your offer, as the shocks I have are 13” eye to eye and I can’t afford to lose an inch on the seat height:thumb

Most shocks i see are 12” so it’s good to see there are alternatives out there. Which I’m looking into.

Hagon shocks are good ..not the budget type but the better ones they'll ask you your weight and if you carry a pillion /liggage regularly and will build shocks to suit and they won't break the bank...

I run Hagon Nitros on my 110" Dyna, they are a Revelation over Stock...

Ive had a 2003 Super glide sport for the past four years and love it. Mine is a carb version.

The standard front is brilliant but the standard springs are crap and way too soft. Racetech springs sorted mine out for around £140 for the springs (their site is really good for getting the right spring rate for you) rear shocks are better if they are slightly longer than stock. Stock is 13.5" they run great with 14.25 to 14.5 and if you fit stiffer fork springs the slightly taller shock keeps it all level. Mine are shock factory but ive heard really good things about the Hagon Nitros.

I havent had an issue with the brakes at all. They have HH pads as standard.

In four years and 20,000 miles the bikes been faultless . The first camchain shoes were replaced at 17,000 miles and I just caught them at 32,000 as one of the shoes started to break up. I went for the hydraulic conversion. People say the gear conversion is best but you need the crank shimming up correctly to have the gear conversion.

Mine has a screaming eagle supermegs 2:1. Made by Supertrapp for Harley. On the dyno we got west results with 20 discs and the end cap fitted. It runs great.

The later further forward mids make things a lot more comfortable. I never knew I had a hip issues until I tried riding with the standard mids. I also tried forward pegs which were very comfortable but a pain at high speed and I never really felt i had enough control.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Mine as I got it and how it is now with a FXRD fairing fitted

Thanks for the info Rob.......
Couple of questions, you say you have the forward mids fitted, I assume in the second pic. It’s hard to see them in the pic, have you any better pics of them. I’m assuming also mine are std which can in some circumstances tweak a muscle in my hip, so I am looking to make it a little more comfortable.

I was also looking into a 2 into 1 system but I’m unaware of this “disc” setup and “end cap” I’ve not come across this:blast

I’m also looking at the Hagen Nitros, they sound like they’re a decent improvement on std and are reasonable cost. My shocks are 13” but will be looking at 14” that may also help with the std controls.........:nenau

It’s a fecking minefield out there in Harley land...........:D

I’m actually running footboards with my current setup.these let you move your feet about and retain the control so a good compromise.

The further forward mid controls move your feet forward about 1 1/2” which helps with the pressure in your hips. They were standard figment on the later dynas and will fit straight on yours. You need the longer brake and gear levers to go with them

The forwards were really comfortable but as the speed gets up you have to fight to stop the wind blowing your feet off.

The disc and end cap is a supertrap thing. You add or remove discs and an end cap to alter the back pressure in the exhaust.

Harley’s are great. Just big tonka toys that you chop and change to suit yourself

Have a search for 'harley further forward controls' to give you an idea what we are on about. I have them on my dyna because my knee won't do 'Forward' controls, they do give you a little more room.
