Reliability

Twin cam bikes were very sorted.
Early LC bikes were not.
Given the choice, TC every time.

Just my humble opinion.

Would like to read any views on the twin cam bikes vs LC bikes for reliability.

What is your idea of reliability? It is not necessarily the same for all people.

Do you mean Japanese levels of reliability as in "it never goes wrong"? If you do, then buy a Super Tenere or Honda Cross-Tourer for cheap-as-chips money.

My LC BMW's have had no faults - apart from the exhaust flap sticking... and that won't stop you going anywhere.

My 2013 LC has finally had its first fault at 47k miles, with the front shock weeping slightly.

Some bikes break down, others don't. LCs are no more unreliable than TCs. Luddite TC riders don't like the progress that that the mothership made with the LC. :D

Just my humble opinion. :D

My 2012 Twin Cam had a significant oil leak (balancer shaft seal) at 600 miles and then another (main crank seal) at around 18k. Both faults needed the bike to be completely stripped with major cost. My 1150 had a failed ignition system and left me stranded in France. I have had four LC's with no faults with any.
