Evening,
I have one of those Clarke part washers and some very grimy Enfield bits to put in it, but it is dry as. I remember Jizer and Gunk as engine de-greasers from way back, are they the best thing or have they been detuned in the way of all the other noxious chemicals from my youth? The stuff I bought when I first got it was like glorified washing up liquid that is diluted with water and I don’t seem to remember it having much bite.

I would use paraffin or diesel and wear gloves

Paraffin. Find someone that uses Kerosene as heating oil and scrounge some - a lot cheaper than 'refined' paraffin.

A call to a local heating oil supplier might help. I don't know how much a parts washer uses, or holds in its sump, but they can probably supply kerosene in a 25 litre drum.

Thanks chaps. I have 5l of diesel sculling about, I think I’ll give that a go.

I tried a detergent type fluid which was recommended for this use but it didn't work very well so I swapped for white spirit which was great.

I’ve still got some TFR I’m using up but you have to thoroughly rinse everything because it’s a bit aggressive to say the least 😀
