I am travelling as a group of six from South Wales up to Oban. We could do it in one run but would like to take parts of the Lakes in and make it a more leisurely stroll avoiding motorways.
Could anyone recommend a B&B enroute or near by that they have stayed at? Would prefer something around the sub £50.00 mark.

There is a great little services just off J38 of the M6 at Tebay. Not the same as Tebay Services which is north of J38 and it commonly referred to as Tebay truck stop. There is a farm shop that does lovely produce and whilst I can't comment on accomodation is well positioned for your journey as it fairly close to the lakes.

Two miles from J43 on the M6 is the County Hotel, Carlisle. Prices around £40.
It's in the centre so places to eat and drink aplenty. Not the Ritz but does the job for an overnight stop
and it has its own car park at the rear.
Used it a couple of times on the way the home from Scotland to break up the journey.

TA for that

depending on when you are going, the lakes can be very busy, have you considered going up the other side of the M6 through the Yorks Dales? some fantastic roads and sights to see. Go up through Settle towards Hawes, where you can " bend left " up over Shap towards Penrith. Here you have choices of Hotels ,Premier Inns ,B and B etc.

have a great trip
