New Tiger Sport 660

Looks a steep slope on that seat or maybe it's the picture.

Was considering one of these, but like Greenman, think I'll be keeping my 800 instead.

You’d have to sit it next to it’s slightly bigger brother then ride them back to back but I suspect it’ll be built down to a budget and the differences will be obvious enough to push more potential buyers towards the more expensive one. I know I’m cynical but you’ll get people look at the bike and think it’s a lot of bike for the money, go and have a test ride on one then look at the 800, do some quick calculations in their head and book a test ride on the 800.

Did you write that Arsey? Looks like it's going to be a popular bike, my son in law has a Trident 660 and is casting a eye at this due to the better touring potential.... my 800 Tiger is perfectly acceptable for me just now, a 2014 pre-gizmo one as well

Agreed. Never worth buying the "budget" version IME.

Reminds me of a conversation at my local Yamaha dealership: when people test ride the Tracer 700 and 900 back to back they generally buy the 900. Those who just test the 700 do end up very happy with their choice.

Why didn’t they the Street Triple 675 engine for it? Just wandering

saw the 660 sport yesterday at shirlaws. looks well put together and nice to sit on . seems roomy enough for an average 6footer. build quality looks great. if i was swapping my vstrom 650 ( 71hp and 213kgs ) that would be a front runner. a t7 is tiny compared to the triumph. not really a triumph fan, i have tried the tiger 800 and coudn't get on with them but the 660 sport tickles my fancy. a trial run might change that. some body said it looks to be built to a budget but compared to the vstrom it is grand.

Test rode one of these as I was seriously considering it.
The buzz through the bars at certain Revs made an S1000xr feel silky smooth.
Looked half finished and as if it built to a low budget.
Bought a Tracer 9gt which some thieving scrote is probably stripping for parts as I type.

Took one out today.
What a cracking bike. No wonder it’s won MCN’S Bike of The Year award.
Yes it is built to a budget, that’s why it’s under £9k !
The riding position was spot on for me at 6’1”.
Nice lean to the bars and not cramped at all.
The screen was adjustable on the fly but still a bit noisy on highest setting.
The Showa suspension seemed very compliant with no jolts over pot holes etc.
Easily adjustable preload.
But the motor is the star of the show.
Yes it needs revving as it only makes 80bhp/64 Nm torquey stuff.
The fuelling is perfect,it’ll pull from 25mph in 6th gear but get the revs above 6k and it flies, and sounds fabulous.
Didn’t detect any vibes at all.
It won’t set the world on fire but you can ring its neck and still be only doing 80 mph, and not 130 on a KTM or Multi.
Add a rack or panniers, quickshifter and heated grips and it’s still under £10k.
Only glaring omission from the options list is cruise.
Dash is a bit naff but I think the build is just fine and looks great in graphite.

The dealer I visited has sold dozens and only 1 bike unsold. Next delivery early 2023 at best.
