I have been informed by the mechanic that fuel is weeping from my tank at the frame fixing bracket location. Somewhere not possible to access for external repair.
He recommended 'Shlosh' internal seal coating I believe made in the IOM.
Anybody used it?

And whether suitable for E10 fuels!
I will find out from the manufacturer.

It is not an unkown problem but it can be repaired from the outside by brazing or with lead loading (usual proviso about no fuel and properly cleaned out of fuel vapour). Find someone who does car fuel tank repairs

Flushing tank

Light Sandblasting of the area and flooding with solder

Sounds like the fecker dropped it on the Mount I trusst your mechanic less and less with each passing post !!

It would likely be more cost effective to take it down to Neil (Steptoe) or send it to me than to have said "Mechanic" continuing bouncing around in a dark room !

Try fueltanks.co.uk alternatively new tanks are still available from bmw for about 1200

I'd be surprised if it can't be brazed etc externally... My GS has an ADV tank that developed some tiny holes in the bottom due to water pooling that came in via a leaking fuel cap gasket... though I just sanded mine and used some filler... I don't remember which one but a year later it's all good. If you don't have good access to the area definitely take the tank to a specialist.
Good luck!

Did it leak before you took it to him ? if not it's up to him to get it fixed as good as and not bodge it with tank sealant..it needs a proper repair done..don't piss about with petrol ..🔥oh an once he's got it fixed get the bike as far away from him and to someone who knows what they're doing ..looks like he's taking you for a mug with endless things he finds ...

Petrol stains have been for a while. Especially taking tank on and off with dribbles from QD valves.
He wants to replace the HT leads to which I have already done 2 years ago with quality ones and next would be the ECU to find the problem.

Told him if the bike is mechanically sound and safe to ride 45 miles, I will bring it back home.

All other things being good, would the ECU be the culprit for poor running?
I do have a Wunderlich chip handy.

Is that normally the problem inside the ECU that goes?

Finally for now...
Is the ECU # 7 667 285
the one for single spark late 2002 R1150GSA model?

Will check on eBay for one.

Does he not have a supply of good used working parts like HT leads, coils, ecu,TPS etc so can fit one part at a time until he finds the problem ? changing all those parts one at a time wouldn't take more than an hour.

If i can't diagnose the problem in the usual way you can't buy new or used parts and charge the customer for each item until you find the fault..... anyone can do that but it works out expensive, if that's what's happening you can do that yourself and save the labour costs.

The whole point of a customer giving me the bike to find the fault is to save them buying unnecessary parts and replacing them in a suck-it-and-see way until you find the one that's the problem.

You need to get a list of the parts he's supposed to have replaced then you'll see what's been done
