I noticed today when riding my bike to work that when turning the key my rev counter cycles to the top and bottom as its supposed to but when I run the bike the rev counter just stays at the max which for my 2009 model is 10k. The bikes revs normally, I did some searching and couldn't find anybody else experiencing this. I don't suppose anyone has any idea what may be causing this? Thank you.

Is a telltale ;)

Tells the dealer you've been ragging the bike , and invalidates the warranty ;)

assuming it's in warranty, take it back to the dealer,

All you'll get here is speculation, the dealer will fix it and should tell you what caused it
