Wobbly Brake Reservoir

Has anyone removed the rubbery buffer and mounted the reservoir rigidly like the later GS's?

I was looking at a similar reservoir on my Bonnie and that's got a fixed mount and it strikes me as a fairly simple job to either use a Bonnie type reservoir or to just re-engineer the existing fixing to eliminate the rubber bit and lower the tank down a bit too.

Thoughts?

My 2008 F800GS had the up-in-the-air spring mounted wobbly reservoir when I bought it - and it was really Really annoying. Particularly when BMW did the update and it was mounted directly onto the master cylinder.
The good news is that the later reservoir is a straight swap for the earlier one. Simply remove everything from the master cylinder cap up (hose, spring mount, & reservoir) and the later reservoir fits straight on. Result. Here’s a photo of mine so you can see how it looks.

Don’t have a part number, Rich, but I got mine from Motoworks. So try them or Motobins, Sherlock’s, or possibly Nippy Normans. Basically anyone who might have a used one for sale. When you see what BMW want to charge you for a brake reservoir just about anyone else is going to be cheaper.

First thing I did was get a guard & it stopped it wobbling straight away!!

Cheaper & less faff than buying an entire new reservoir....
