Has any one done the N2 route down through Portugal.?

Read a write up by a couple of bikers today and it looks / sounds like a cracking 450 mile run.

Not personally, but a good mate has and recommended it. There were some so-so parts but mostly excellent and pretty well signposted where it goes through towns etc.

Portugal's supposed Route66; you have probably seen this already, but others may find it helpful - https://juliedawnfox.com/n2-the-ultimate-portugal-road-trip-from-north-to-south/

I've never done it in one bite, as I tend to find progress can get extraordinarily slow in some sections, but I guess that is all part of the charm of the place.

Take care with the heat if you plan July/August - Last time we were there the daytime high was well above 40c & bush fires south of Villa Real lead to some road closures/diversions, all part of the fun.

Great read, thank you.

Did you not believe the couple of bikers whose write-up you read today?

Here’s a write-up (it may be the same one perhaps) by a couple of bikers (or at least bods on motorbikes) who seem to think it’s the dog’s nuts. But maybe they are telling porky pies? If they are they went to a lot of trouble to do so. They do though appear to come from Bermuda, where the speed limit is 15 mph, so they’d maybe find the M25 exciting.

ABR (by bikers, for bikers) puts it number one in a list, assuming no.5 isn’t number one, if you get my drift.

These bikers (or bods on motorbikes) give it the thumbs up. They even made the Daily Mail, though that alone might be enough to make one vomit:

Unbelievable

Keep trolling dick head

Ha.!! Didn't know you are a moderator so can't stick you on the ignore list.... Oh how the privileges of power are abused.!! Anyone else know you are a moderator??

Hahaha. :)

Here you go.

Some wanker even carved it into a nice GPX file, because somebody (possibly, a wanker) wanted it.

It’ll look like this black line.

Nice ride report, just what I needed.

Thank you

@Robbi Your question was legitimate and has helped me a lot.

@Wapping Your answer in post 6 could have been taken in a way that you did not mean (easily done in this forum world)

@Robbi, Possible subsequent over reaction albeit on this forum the vultures close in if you show weakness, so you nipped it in the bud.

@Wapping, really great and helpful subsequent answers - will genuinely be a great help to me and many I am sure

@both draw a line in the sand, hold no grudges and move on.

Thank god it is nowhere near me, don`t want these British peasants in my back yard with their penny pinching ways, selfish attitudes and generally noisy default settings, they can fuck right off, I hate the utter complete twats.

Smithmas,.... Cheers bud, ride safe. :)

I had read how good the N2 was so headed there last October. We missed the most southern section above Faro (the best section apparently!). Generally we were disappointed and if you are only interested in the road for motorcyling there are better roads to ride in Portugal. The section from Viseu to Chaves in the north was perhaps the worse part, busy and slow going. Culturally there are some very interesting towns along the way, the latter two both worth a visit.

The best route we found in Portugal. It was a fantastic ride.

You are getting warm...In all fairness there are so many brilliant roads in Portugal, you just need to keep away from the toll roads...However there are a lot of speed cameras going up this year, so it is going to be like the rest of the EU...Boring.
