From a long weekend away in Belgium, part of which was to test the beta version of BMW’s Connect app, I found:
A. I created the routes in MyRoute, which I saved on the cloud.
B. They imported perfectly into BMW’s Connected app, which ran faultlessly on my phone, bar one glitch.
C. They were less than perfect in Garmin’s Drive app but I found a cure….
Using MyRoute, I saved the routes in version 1.2, which brings over a route and a track. I dropped the route and asked my phone to send just the track to my XT. This it did faultlessly.
I then asked the XT to convert the track to a route, again faultless. I then ran the route with no problems at all. I went as far as to try going off route and asking it to rejoin at the nearest point, which again worked really well.
The one fault I had with BMW Connect on my phone? I took the phone out of the cradle to have lunch, my tank bag sitting in the sun. I had left the phone on, which then overheated. It didn’t matter as I had the XT running too. If I’d been in a hurry with no back up I’d have to wait whilst the phone cooled.
