Have any of you chaps or chapesses had issues with the starter motor ring on the 1150? Mine has been a bit sluggish and rattly to turn over for some time and I always put it down to infrequent use and the recent cold weather sapping the battery. After a run the other day it would not start and the symptoms were like a flat battery which I'd only replaced a couple of weeks ago. On checking the battery terminals it appeared the earth was a bit loose so I nipped it up and tried again with no joy and the earth wire got very hot.
Jump leads made no difference and on closer examination I could see the terminal was breaking up, so I assumed in my usual ham-fisted manner I'd maybe over-tightened it. I replaced the battery and the starter motor as the teeth on the bendix/pinion gear looked quite worn. All was good for a couple of days until today when it wouldn't start but turned over okay initially but then sounded like a bag of spanners and almost like the starter motor was not seated properly (it was however and the bolts were tight).
Before I decide if it's worth spending any more money on do these symptoms sound familiar and is the starter/flywheel something anyone's had similar issues with please?
