I have a minor oil leak from the oil switch on lower left of the engine.
I have replaced the crush washer behind the switch, but still have the leak.

Can this switch leak through the actual switch?

If so, then I will need to replace the switch, but I don’t want to buy a new one and find that it hasn’t cured the leak.
The leak is only slight, a few drops on the floor after a ride, but it’s annoying my OCD.

Thanks

all switches can leak .

inside is a diaphragm and 2 contacts , no pressure contacts closed= light on .

pressure behind , contacts open =lights off

diaphragm is rubber ? , ages , gets a split , light stays on , oil leaks thro' switch.

( unless it's italian , and it works normally , and leaks oil )

it's all in the diagnosis , thats the hard part.

Yes, it’s the internal core that’s leaking. A common failure. I’d replace it but you could try a thorough degrease and repair with araldire.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

At least I have confirmation that my diagnosis was along the right lines.
I will get a new switch ordered, and report back once it’s fitted and thoroughly tested.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
