Original BMW top box, no longer locks (but does close no problem)

Hi All

Nice and easy one hopefully;

My original top box closes ok, but when you turn the key to lock, it moves but does not lock.

I can’t find a replacement lock section on Motoworks, do you know where I can get a replacement?

Panniers same key as ignition and all good, top box separate key with the locking issue


PS someone suggested going to a lock specialist for help if no other option, but a replacement lock seems the most sensible I think

The BMW top box supplied for the R1150GS was original fitment to the earlier K1100LT which is why it has a different style key.

Have you tried looking under K1100LT or K100LT luggage.

Sounds like the mechanism is just wore out. Have you tried taking it apart to see what’s faulty.

Aha! There it is number 7 Me thinks!

Yes sorry should have said, unscrewed the whole thing, looked around, couldn’t work it out, nothing obvious…
