I saw these two brand new Ural outfits a day or so ago. One (the green one) was called an Adv, the grey and red one, an Xpd. The Xpd seemed to be an Adv but with Nitron suspension and a phone carrier.

I was mildly amused by the warning sticker on the jerrycan…..

Perhaps it’s to piss in, when out on the tundra?

Nice. I’ve never tried one, but when I win the lottery I’m going to the factory to pick one up. Don’t suppose that’ll happen with the current political situation. Or lack of lottery win . They’re moving the factory to Kazakhstan now.

They do look rather smart i must say. Lack of dealer interventions would worry me though with the newer ones. Since F2 stopped dealing with Ural not sure how you get them worked on when needed. How reliable is the UK network?

Was the Xpd all wheel drive also? Perhaps it's a wise warning regarding the Jerry can, an either or? Have you had water in your gasoline? No fun in the frozen wastes of Siberia...

The Jerry can sticker is due to American liability laws.
It first appeared on them several years ago.

There's just nothing else like them, is there?

I think they have pulled off a very difficult trick - they're still effectively 50+ year old designs but somehow look acceptably modern.

The exhaust, though..... that's an acquired taste.

I must say they look quite ‘modern’ and decently enough put together.

I see that the place where I keep my motorhome in north London (where I took the pictures) has set themselves up as a low-key dealership. I’ll ask the chap that runs it about a test drive, not least as I have never driven a sidecar, though my maternal grandfather had one for many years.

I have come close to buying something similar and have tried a Ural

However, apart from the look of the engine, I find the ChangJiang Pekin express and Dynasty are better quality, more powerful, certainly more reliable and cheaper:nod

Interesting arrangement at the rear end on the red bike,

Looks like what we call a Tilger hanging off the rear axle, where the 2nd drive unit is

There used to balance out harmonic vibrations , The downside is 2kg or so of weight added to something your trying to take weight out of

i like the colour of the Green one :)

Had a trip as a passenger in one at the ABR festival. Selectable two wheel drive. Lots of fun

Me too with the Sidecar Guys. It was a hoot, surprisingly comfy and they way they attacked the dusty hill was something else.

A guy called Cob did some interesting USA ride reports on Ural combos on Advrider.com...but he had done lots of mods to improve performance and reliability... they were definitely not for the non mechanically minded rider.

Wonder whether they have improved?

I would love one but silly money, Tarka invited me over to his for the weekend, where he taught me how to ride one, he had me lifting the chair doing doughnuts riding round a car park, the knows is stuff, told me what years to be looking out for etc, but I can never see anything for sale. I would definitely have one in the garage, I want to lift the chair pulling into my kids school at drop off time, there a steep hill and good tight bend to lift it.

Not comfortable with that strap over the painted mudguard

This is the last decent one I saw for sale.
