I know people can't believe it, I put them on when the speedo read 14,800 miles, it is now on 44,783 miles and there are still 1.8mm of tread in the middle of the rear. Only 250 miles to go :D

They coped perfectly well with some 1/2" deep, slimy mud today for about a mile or so too, it was pretty slithery but she held her line, and accumulated a fair spattering throughout.
Even on soft turf I didn't get any slip-sliding or wheel spin. It's all in the wrist action you know! The end of Micky's cheap tyres is nigh, but haven't they done me well. :thumby:

Pictures from today's ride, with her in pride of place on the special plinth outside Pidcock's, while I availed myself of a cup of chocolate and found out that brake pads are 'NLA' according to the system... I think both Mr. Ferodo and Mr. EBC might disagree.

Outbloodyrageous.
You seem to be getting into the off-road malarky.

That's a lot of miles on a tyre. Nice one. Will add the Annakees to my list of future purchases

Oh, Anakee 111`s.
I`ve got a pair of those waiting to go on the DR800 when the current tyres wear out (which will be soon).
Can`t see getting 30k out of them on this bike though.

End of life is nigh! Another couple of hundred miles and I will swap the wheels over, I have some Mitas something or others on the spare wheels that came off the X Challenge. They are the tyres I did the Chatsworth lanes on.... it was dry and they got me there. Plenty on them still. The X Challenge has gone off to the Guru of the North to be rewired and made usable. Those wheels are 21 and 18 and came off Si Pavey's race truck, there were one of his spare sets, with Takasagi rims (spelling?) wearing Pirelli MT21s. They are very good for my green laning but I have to go easy on the road, they are aweful on the tarmac, rumble and I don't feel confident on them, but going easy means I don't burn the chunks off either.

That will give me time to think - but if nothing else comes available I would have those Anakkee 3s again without hesitation. It is probably time for new tubes too, I think they are the originals. :thumby:

KR, I have a brand new set of Mofo Explorer tyres here that came with a bike I bought, pretty sure they will fit your X Country … yours for nothing if you want them .. :beerjug: I can dig them out and take a couple of pictures etc to check the sizing etc later if they are of interest . I can courier them to you or you can ride your bike here and get them fitted up our local bike shop if you want
Cheers

Thank you ever so much. Yes please - I will drive down and fetch them! I will buy them, I don't expect them for free, very generous the offer is though. :beerjug:

outrageous indeed ! no idea how you do it are you sticking with the same when they finally give up ?

Tall top gear sprocket (16 / 47) and don't accelerate, just build your speed, get into top, use the throttle. She will still bimble along in top at 43mph on the flat and just gently build speed. Don't use your brakes, see the corner well ahead and just roll round on a trailing throttle from well out - Grandad riding perhaps, but it saves fuel, tyres, brakes.... and stress on the rider! :D

I've done it!

The odometer turned the corner today on my way up to Preston to collect Anna's replacement laptop. There is loads of meat left on them, so I have raised the bar and am going to aim for 31,000 miles, just for the hell of it. :D
