Visiting the dolomites

Hotel Olympia in Arabba. Very well situated to access some great passes, good food, and the bar staff very quickly learn what beer you like.

Anywhere on a T-junction or crossroads.

Why? It’s mountains, with bloody big lumps of rock in the way. A junction means you have a choice of directions to hoon out of the door in. Arraba is a typical popular choice.

As it’s a skiing / walking / driving / riding / hang gliding / climbing destination, the whole area is littered with hotels, all catering for tourists. They will not throw stones at you, if you arrive on a motorcycle. Do take a lock though.

Have a look through this section I have now copied your appeal into, to see if anything leaps out to grab you by the soft bits. Here is an example, along with a suggestion for ‘biker friendly’ hotels. Yes, it’s in foreign but hey ho.

Portovesco
Good hotel good food friendly staff
Underground parking if you don’t take the butter!

The Dolomites are such a popular tourist area, that the internet is littered with hotels, many of which specifically mention ‘bikers’ in their blurb. Here is a tiny sample:

Bods on push bikes, like the same sort of roads and hotels: https://epicroadrides.com/cycling-blog/dolomites-bike-hotels-where-to-stay-dolomites-cyclists/

PS I have stayed in three different hotels in Arraba, none of which were the Olympia hotel suggested above. The three different hotels were all good. In fact, throughout the entire Dolomites, you’d probably struggle to find a really bad one, depending of course on what YOUR expectations are. As they cater for the ski season, many hotels have underground car garages, to keep your awesome steed safe, if that’s your thing.

My suggestion would be for you to work out which part of the Dolomites you plan to stay in and then just Google: Hotels in xxxxxx inserting the name of the place. Then pick the one or two you fancy and refine your search a bit more.

The hotels do get booked up, trust me on that. It is often a good idea to at least book something, say on Booking.com, which you can then maybe cancel, if you decide to stay somewhere else.

Madonna de Compiglio, lovely ski village which is vibrant in summer and has great restaurants and bars.

Here, great Hotel and geared for Bikers

I've stayed there (hotel Garni) and the hotel Malita across the road from it - both have underground parking.
Food, and beer, in the Malita was excellent.
Also the hotel de Lana up the Pordoi pass - food also excellent.

Hotel Olympia in Arabba
Stayed there in June 2018 good food ,ideal location and really really good value (half pension deal)
Recommend on this site by 4 operatives in winter 2017 to me ,ideal place .
I have the GPX routes I think for the trip ,if you want them ?

I am currently sat in the Posta al Cervo hotel in Val Gardena. It is excellent. Clean, nice rooms, good food and run by a very nice family. It is inexpensive and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
