...the plan is to ride to work and leave Chelmsford at 13.30 at the latest to be at the services in good time for the 15.02 start of leg 2.

Not posted before due to general numpty activity in paying sponsorship

Sounds good - see you there.

I'll PM you my mobile number in case you need to get in touch.

Cheers
Steve

Hi all - I'll be arriving at services around 1:00 - 1:15, suggest we all try to be there by 2:00 just in case leg 1 get a good run :thumb :D

If anyone is definitely coming and won't be there until closer to 15:00 please let me know on my mobile.

Cheers Jim

If I'm not there and you want to get going.....

...I have the route in't gps thingy so will catch you up - I can't stop work before 13.00 to leave work at 13.30ish, so 14.00 at services at earliest fully fuelled.

Jim, and everyone else

I got your text message, albeit not until 6.00-ish this evening. I've sent Ela a PM explaining my absence, but I knew you'd have some additional "surprise" support. I just hope to God they turned up!

Sorry I missed it, though.

Robin.

Well Done region 2 :clap :clap :clap

First things first - congratulations to all who took part - special mention of course to our intrepid baton holder Ela :clap :clap :clap

Got off to a good start with a few surprise and very welcome 'guests'.
Karen and the region 1 team arrived well ahead of schedule which allowed Bill to demonstrate his emergency roadside clutch bleeding technique which we were all to become very familiar with by the time we reached Southampton. :bow

There are some photos around which I'm sure will get posted soon - unfortunately Bill's photographic prowess was on a par with his clutch performance, so we don't expect too much from him :p

Had a nice stop at Deal castle for piccies with Ela's future(?) inlaws :thumb

Due to traffic delays had to make an executive decision at the fuel stop to cut the Beachy Head leg and take the direct A27 route to Southampton - unfortunately the A27 was closed and we got diverted up the A22, came scarily close to Tunbridge Wells !!, before heading back down the A26, through the Cadfeiaelliell tunnel and back on the A27. Apologies for those who got dropped at the back (although I did hear rumours of a detour into Brighton for fish'n'chips :nenau ) we really had to press on to make Southampton on time.

Once again brilliant effort and great turnout :thumb thoroughly enjoyed the day, the company and above all the reason we were there.

Talking to Ela and Steve at the end it sounds like they've done brilliantly with collecting donations - I'll let Ela share the good news with the final number :thumb

Cheers Jim :beerjug:

I ducked out with arse-ache at the a23/a27 junction and stopped in brighton for tea.
320 miles, or 500km in a day is more than my usual 50-100

Nice day for it though, and a great spirit. Thanks for the day out.

No, we stopped for a full three course and still caught you up !:p

Bill's loaner tyres should be the right shape now as well :D

Thanks to all, it was good fun, and for a very worthy cause!

Nice to meet a few new faces as well.

Good luck to the remaining regions still to go!

Cheers

Hello Everybody,

Sorry for posting so late - when we came home on Tuesday all I wanted was my bed and yesterday we had to entertain a visitor (a former tosser, expatriated to Barcelona for bad behaviour who hit the road this morning for Princetown . But he left a donation that made my jaw drop by several inches...

Well, our run was such a great experience - thank you all for turning up and riding with me, providing moral support and making the day so much fun (you must know that I couldn't sleep properly since last Thursday because I was so excited (or rather nervous if all would go well... :mmmm )).

Special thanks to Karen for going through all the hassle organising the event, encouraging every single rider, replying to each little pm and then riding the first leg herself turning up 20 minutes ahead of schedule... :thumb

One of our surprise guests who just turned up, pinched Jim's bike (with the only GPS holding the final route...) and disappeared without a trace:

Fortunately Fanum returned 10 minutes later - but only to start maintaining his bike on location:

I always thought you ought to do this the evening before... :nenau

Three minutes after the scheduled start time we finally got going - making good progress until Deal where my English family lives. They have supported me very much (and still do...) so it was really important to me to stop there for a photo in front of the castle:

Is there somebody bleeding their clutch again? Burfcontrol showing Possu's dad how to keep a bunch of tossers in check:

Still ten miles to go to Dover:

Although some riders went missing en-route for various reasons :D we were all reunited at Pevensey again (and look, IanF is smiling!):

Well deserved dinner after handing over the baton to Jaq and waving the region 3 team goodbye:

Hope everybody made it home safe and sound! I was really glad that Possu had come down to pick me up (I'm a bit nightblind and wouldn't have wanted to swap places with Jaq :bow).

Thank you all again for escorting me! I am really glad that everything went so well - we were extremely lucky with the weather, traffic, bikes (well, almost...) and especially the riders - what a great team spirit! :clap :clap :clap

I am proud of you and very happy that we all made such an the effort for this good cause:

Hope to see you at the weekend!
