Hello Everybody,
Sorry for posting so late - when we came home on Tuesday all I wanted was my bed and yesterday we had to entertain a visitor (a former tosser, expatriated to Barcelona for bad behaviour who hit the road this morning for Princetown
. But he left a donation that made my jaw drop by several inches...
Well, our run was such a great experience - thank you all for turning up and riding with me, providing moral support and making the day so much fun (you must know that I couldn't sleep properly since last Thursday because I was so excited (or rather nervous if all would go well...
)).
Special thanks to Karen for going through all the hassle organising the event, encouraging every single rider, replying to each little pm and then riding the first leg herself turning up 20 minutes ahead of schedule...
One of our surprise guests who just turned up, pinched Jim's bike (with the only GPS holding the final route...) and disappeared without a trace:
Fortunately Fanum returned 10 minutes later - but only to start maintaining his bike on location:
I always thought you ought to do this the evening before...
Well, we can't leave him behind - after all it's a charity event... Zippy, Dahoum and - sorry, I've such a bad memory...
Bill, you can never post on environmental issues again:
Let's get your wipes out:
Three minutes after the scheduled start time we finally got going - making good progress until Deal where my English family lives. They have supported me very much (and still do...) so it was really important to me to stop there for a photo in front of the castle:
Is there somebody bleeding their clutch again? Burfcontrol showing Possu's dad how to keep a bunch of tossers in check:
Still ten miles to go to Dover:
Although some riders went missing en-route for various reasons
we were all reunited at Pevensey again (and look, IanF is smiling!):
"Err, I propably won't be home for dinner..." - Zippy:
Jim: "Is somebody willing to px their Pink Way t-shirt?" This is as big as it gets: 3XL
The naughty pin pen man at work...
Well, nothing wrong with my inscription...
Final destination Southampton - Bill gser desparately trying to get hold of somebody at SBW motorrad of Hertford to ask if he could keep his loan ADV for another leg...
Well deserved dinner after handing over the baton to Jaq and waving the region 3 team goodbye:
Hope everybody made it home safe and sound! I was really glad that Possu had come down to pick me up (I'm a bit nightblind and wouldn't have wanted to swap places with Jaq
).
Thank you all again for escorting me! I am really glad that everything went so well - we were extremely lucky with the weather, traffic, bikes (well, almost...) and especially the riders - what a great team spirit!
I am proud of you and very happy that we all made such an the effort for this good cause:
Hope to see you at the weekend!
