I've seen a bike I fancy for sale but I've got a question I need your help with please

Was there an option for a Black & White Dakar twin spark available in the UK in June 2004?

The only black & white ones I've found by searching the net have been year 2000 bikes. All the ref's to UK Dakar's in 2004 that I can find so far say "exclusively in BLUE & white/silver"

Was this option available in the UK or do you think it's an import or had all it's panels changed? :nenau

Cheers

I have the 2004 broucher here and dakar is the blue and grey, black was year2000 only, probably panels have been changed like jb did to his ones

no. you are saying you have seen an 04 black white colours?
available 2000-2001 not on twin spark .
i reckon its a repanel.there was aguy selling a mint set on ebay recently.
check logbook . dvla for colour change?

best colour as well as the 2001-20002 blue red white.

Spot the difference.................. :D :D

One's a 2000 Black and White Dakar

Another is a 2006 Twinspark Dakar

fandango, the panels in jbs pics are i think pre 04.
after or in 04 the mountig fo the bmw badges changed i think.
so if the one you saw is like jb's ,they are old style panels!phew

Thanks very much for the info Gentlemen, I've now told the guy I'll buy it.

Thanks for the photos JohnnyBoxer it's shown me that the checker board sticker on the beak is missing and I'll have to get one of those beak extender things to finish it off.

While I was looking at it I took these two photo's with my phone. A couple of the plastic bits could do with a buff up but it all seems generally sound.

I used to have a Funduro and currently ride an 1150GS but my 650GS knowledge is quite limited (at the moment anyway) so although I know these photos aren't much to go by does anything stand out to you as being obviously wrong? (like the fact that the screen is very different to Johnny's)

Thanks again :thumb

hi,tis earlier body panels .
the screen is correct for an 04,jb changed his for the earlier tinted one?
front mudguard missing decals and beak extender,
this an off road school bike ?

Thanks for your help Colt :clap
It now looks like the previous owner dropped the bike and mashed up a good bit of the original plastic so swapped it all out with the 2000 black & white (missing the beak and sticker).
My days on the Funduro mean I'm very confident that I've checked everything else over mechanically and it's all as it should be. It was just that colour scheme that through me a bit

I want the bike for dirt fun weekends and maybe a bit of commuting while still using the 1150 as my main day to day bike. I like the black & white and the price means I can sort out the missing detail and still be quids in by a very long way (unless I have missed some major horror hidden away)

No doubt I'll be back asking questions about how to fix it in the very near future :bounce1

good luck, and have fun checking it over.
sounds abit drastic changing all the plastic for asmash up?
can see any other detail until you take the panels apart, will be winter fun.
as you mention you have f650 experience and feel the price was right,so go fer it.
mine had a little damage when i got mine.
dont forget the othe rsites f650uk and chaingang usa site.
plenty of info and help around. :thumb

Cheers Colt :thumb
I'll let you know about any tears of woe after I've stripped it all down :)

Yep!
RS or Russell to us dodgy people who weave our way through the slalom course of black London cabs (queuing for the garage next door) to see what bikes he's got in (or got in bits)
