I am considering the following modifaction. i am aware of the kits sold by members but just need to check the basic electrical theory in relation to the canbus.

So the plan is to have dipped and main beam on 50w HID so that being within 10% of the standard H7 bulb should not effect the CANBUS.

I am also considering a set of spotlights to increase the visible width of the bike. If i piggy back these from the dipped beam power into the HID will it upset the CANBUS.

Or if i take a piggy back to a relay and power elsewhere

I also have a redundant set of spots from the old 1150 which take H3 bulbs. i would also like to have them with LED H3 bulbs wired piggy back onto the main beam. This would give be the ability to use main beam as a flashed warning of my presence.

Any body aware of a lightbar combined ballast mount for an 2008 1200.

Oh go on then its also alll bling/farkle.

Decent HIDs of either 35W or 50W don't appear to upset the canbus.

Depending on the rating of the spots, together with the HID they might go over the 55W load the canbus will expect to see, so using the headlamp to trigger the relay makes more sense. Then the main load goes through the relay to the battery.

I've not seen a combined light bar/ballast mount.

Ballast mount

On the '08 GS (assuming it's not a GSA) there is an ideal place for the ballasts here:
