This is just a post to let you know that my wife and I (ok and our teddy bear) are off through Africa. This tour will be on two motorbikes and will be taking the western route through Africa (i.e. the route Ewan Mcgregor and Charlie Boorman didn't take). It will be about 15,000 miles long and should take between 6 to nine months to complete (or until the money runs out).

After several delays and problems (including waiting and waiting for the bank and a last minute problem with the wheel bearings on one of the bikes) the tour will begin on the 8th May which is, incidently, our Wedding anniversary. From home we will cross the channel on the Eurotunnel because one of our part (the Navigator Adrian) gets seasick. From there we will head south through France and Spain and cross from Algiceras into Ceuta and then Morocco where the adventure really begins.

I will be updating our blog as often as possible and will try to update here as well (depends on internet connections along the way).

Wish us luck!

I hope that you have a great time, be careful, mostly enjoy yourselves.

A friend who worked in the oil industry in Africa, mostly Nigeria, says don't even trust the local banks with your cash. If you are going to use local banks for withdrawals keep only a small balance in the account.

Good luck. Have a brilliant (and safe) time :thumb2

I hope you have done a risk assessment on Nigeria and DRC. They are both dodgy places having been there many times.

Otherwise good luck! :thumb2
