LC supermoto

I'm following this. What 17" front will fit? I'm also interested to know whether there's an HP2WC in the pipeline? That would be a lot of fun.

I have mentioned to Vines on more than one occasion and to BMW staff at NEC that BMW should give you the option of 17 inch wheels on the GS for those who only want to use it on road but like the GS style:hide

Would work for me giving a far greater choice of tyres:thumb2

I have a pair of wheels off a R1200S that never made it onto my old GS. Tried moving them on but never had any interest. Not sure I want to SM the LC just yet, but I'm certainly watching this space...

Don't watch this space. Try it - go on, just to see if they'll fit. Dare you.

It would be great but I think that with the smaller front wheel you would compromise the lean angle. I say this because I have the pegs touchdown when pushing hard , this would get worse with a smaller front wheel.
Maybe there is a way to lift the front ?
Also the abs , would that work as it should?
Many questions ..... But what a mod if it can be done !!

They will not fit the LC, as I've done several Hex/TC bikes, i thought the LC would be my nxt project but at the mo it ain't going to happen because no donor wheels available, I'm sure the new rt will share the same wheel spec needed for the conversion.

Agree with stick even on a hex/TC the pegs do touch down even more so because of the height reduction you gain from the 17" front and I'm only a lightweight.

The conversion does/would not effect the abs because everything is plug and play.

do you know how scarce the S wheels are?

Also with these mods you have to think about your insurance, in the end i was struggling to find someone to insure this.

has anyone put wider rear tyres on their LC yet, and changed the front to 17"

Hmmm you might screw up the calibration of the traction control, fancy suspension etc, unless you have the standard bike. A similar question was asked in Fast Bikes recently and Honda were adamant that it should not be done and this was just a tyre profile change.

It never screwed up my Traction or the ESA on my twin cam Infact, i was contacted by bike mag whom wanted to convert there bike, after varies details and checking they did exactly the same mod to there rallye bike, it can be seen in various bike mag publishes.

Sometimes I feel you need to go against the grain, BMW told me it was impossible/I could not change the indicator switch gear and cancel around on my TC, however I did do so and rewired them. I think they say No to protect themselfs from any claims in the event it goes tits up.

Anything is Possible .

Yes anything is possible except avoiding death :D

I can see how wheel size and tyre profile could really screw up the dynamic suspension on the LC though - the tyres form part of the suspension of the bike, the system will have been designed around a certain tyre profile (height:width ratio) so changing the tyres will change the way the whole dynamics work, e.g the amount of compression/rebound damping that is automatically dialled in with lean angle and speed may need to change too.

Now that look the Business, Im liking that. :thumb

Cheers Terry :beerjug:

PS not a one off any more either seems it can be done and relatively easy too by the looks of it. :clap
