I know that it's getting into the wrong time of year to do this mod but who knows we might have another cold snap yet before Summer. Cast not a cloot and all that....:augie

I used to use an Oxford Huff in my Tour X both with a visor or with goggles. The Huff has the benefit of also having a chin curtain. Having recently fitted the Arai breath guard, thanks to Laughing Gas pointing out its existence, I got round to thinking about another how to fit a chin curtain.

Before I chopped up a perfectly good Huff, I decided to see what else was available. I'd previously fitted a Shoei race breath guard in my Arai Signet so decided to look at what Shoei might have on offer. It was at this point that I discovered the Shoei Whisper Kit which consists of a separate neck curtain and a chin curtain.

With the assistance of my local Shoei dealer, the ever helpful Colin Hart at Forth Gear, I did a test fitting of the Whisper Kit in my Tour X.

You can see the end result below. It's also possible to fit just the chin curtain on its own. I haven't tried this setup on the bike yet but I'll update this post with my impressions when I've done so.

Good tip :thumb2

Since strimming my manly beard back to a boyish fuzz my XR-1000 has been a wee bit drafty. This looks like the answer :)

Ncie one - that could be a real winner on the TourX as that's it's only weakness for me.

How does the horseshoe bit fit on?

There's a stiffish plastic strip along the edge of both the neck curtain and the chin curtain. These slide in between the helmet's shell and the liner. It's not retained quite so well in the Tour X as it is in the Shoei for which it was designed, (I also tried it in my son's XR1000), but it works.

I've got the wisper kit for my XR1000, but i don't use the neck surround becasue it is so tight. There is no way I could use headphones with it - maybe i just have a wierd shaped head

How much you want for it :augie

Not sure if I still have to be honest, I have a hunt around and let you know.

I bought a whisper kit to use with my Shoei XR1000. It worked pretty well and quietening things down but it was just too damned hot so I took it off:o

Hi Schtum,

any update on what difference the whisper kit made?

I am pretty close to buying a Tour x but concerned about noise, I presume it is more noisey than a rgular full face and the whisper kit would make a difference.

Any observations on above?

Also interested in the efficacy (ooh er missus!) of the above, before I trade my Tour X in for something else.
