Hi Guys, Just brought my new Zumo 550 home but it would seem that the supplied City navigator (Eurove V9) will not install on my Mac OS X 10.4.10.
It's a newer intel based machine.
Is this a common problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! ;)

I joined the Zumo 550 forum today and asked the same question. Turns out there's no way to do it
FYI that is.

You can use a program called 'Boot Camp' by apple which let's you install windows onto the Mac aswell as Mac OS. You have the option when switching Mac on which operating system to log into, Mac or Windows. Log into windows and install Mapsource on there. I use this method and it works exactly the same as a PC.

Best of both worlds!

I had considered Boot Camp but having had XP for many years I know how vunerable it is. It's been fantastic having the Mac and not having all those security / virus / spyware problems associated with XP. (By installing boot camp / XP I feel like I'd be insulting the Mac if you know what I mean)
I run Windows 2000 at work. I'll just have to install it on there and live with only using the software there.
Maybe Garmin will introduce a Mac version soon (Fingers crossed!)
Thanks for your reply though.
Chris.

If you don't use your windows for internet access only mapsource then there should be no security issues to worry about, should there??

I run AVG free edition anti-virus, Spybot and Ccleaner, all are free downloads and updates. No worries, although i only use the windows bott up for Mapsource

Parallels works very well, ver 2.5.:thumb2

How about Crossover?
I heard about Crossover and Bootcamp, One was Linux based I think. I went for Parallels
because it took the complete OS much like dual boot, with the ability to easily flick between
the two, works well for me, picks up the Quest and all my USB Mass storage devices no bother.

I tried parallels but couldn't get Garmin USB drivers loaded, wouldn't work for some reason?
I had the same problem at first, but I gave it an hour, got the drivers on and no problems since.
The wierd thing is I have to open mapsource first then connect the GPS,if I do it the other way
round it won' detect the device, wierd.

Works perfect in every way now, I think USB support has improved a lot in newer versions.

Parallels Desktop Ver 2.5
Parallels tool centre Ver/Build: 3214

I had it working in Parallels for a while, then started getting a BSOD in the USB driver after an upgrade of Parallels. Is it all pretty stable again in the latest updates to V2? I'll give it a whirl on my M-Mini later on again if so.

How about Crossover?

It doesn't work Beacon. All looks promising when you install V9. It completes the installation but then won't run Mapsource - its starts and then quites after giving an error message saying it needs Windows etc.

I'll give Parallels a go now.

There's another lad on here from Cork, he has Ver 9 working fine on Parallels as well.:nenau

PS, The same fella said he'd heard bad things about Parallels ver 3.0. I dont know what but
apparently there are issues with it.

MacBook with Bootcamp

I've recently bought a new MacBook Intel2 and installed Bootcamp. I now run Mapsource on the Windows drive. I had to buy a copy of Windows XP of course.

This all I use Windows for! Works great though.

Parallells all set-up on my new Macbook-pro today - works a treat with the Zumo - files sent both ways - chuffed. Loads quicker than the old PC laptop I was running Mapsource on before!
