Hi

I´m looking for some kind of bracket to mount my ptt button.I have 1200GS -07.Does enyone knows if there are a OEM bracket? .I have seen pictures of police bikes and i think they have ptt buttons mounted. The bike is still under warranty so i don´t want to do any modifications that can not be reverted. When i was riding my f650 the button was mounted around the handlebar but on the 1200gs there are buttons where the welcro used to wrap around.

Can be bought from http://www.sonic-comms.com email [email protected]

I think that the bracket looks good, i use the top switch holder for my LANC lead on my video camera.

Please note that this price is for the bracket only, they do however do one with s switch but that is around £60.00. I used my intaride switch.

Top post - I'd seen these on police bikes and wondered where you could get them from - searched net with no success.

One is now wending its way towards me :)

Worth noting that when I spoke to the guys at sonic communications they put me onto their supplier - Vehicle Developments in Andover. Helpful and friendly although I think they usually supply large quantities to the trade.

Going to try to cannibilise my slightly flimsy Autocom PTT unit & attach it to this instead.

Will do.

Off to Italy for a couple of weeks so will have to get fiddling when I get back (If the car makes it back:o)

Would have gone on the GS but being 20 weeks pregnant my wife didn't seem too keen:nenau

This is a great looking product - simple and effective! - Has anyone had a go at making their own and selling them a bit cheaper?!:thumb

Right, back from holiday & got the PTT mount attached - now off to Maplin's to see what they've got in terms of waterproof switches. Hope it's not going to rain too much today as no garage & soldering + rain = bad combination.

Wader - nice picture! I used to live in Orkney and there were very few signposts to Twatt - apparently they all used to get stolen by tourists! The rather unfortunate thing is that many people in Orkney have a surname relating to where their family came from - I always used to snigger when calling a "Mr. Twatt":D

Right - here it is....

Got simple push to contact non-locking switch from Maplin (they did a nicer one, but it needed a 15.5mm hole and the hole on the PTT mount is 14mm).

Dismantled the Autocom PTT unit , chopped the switches off the wires and simply soldered them to the switch. I was going to keep the 2-way switch for the vox/PTT/continually transmit function, but I couldn't find a decent waterproof switch to fit the mount so simply left it out (the blue wire in the lead is now attached to nothing). I only ever really use the PTT anyway.

sorry if im being a little retarded, but what is wrong with the autocom standard PTT mount.

Mines cable tied on just fine and I can press it easily with removing my hands from my winter covers. :D

Jon - yes I did mean to add a picture - sorry, I'm being a bit of a Luddite and I'm not sure why it won't show up - If you click the link though it will take you to the picture.

The reasons I wanted to replace my standard Autocom PTT unit were:

a). Felt a bit flimsy & I'm not convinced by the waterproofing.

b). Found it got in the way of where I like to hold the grip
