Myself & Daithi had arranged to go out yesterday to do a bit of a recce for a run we're doing later in the year.

The day started grey & cold but dry. By the time we met up in Wexford the sky had cleared & the sun was out. The temperature started to rise & after a bit of a fried breakfast we were off. The first half hour wasn't terribly exciting - small roads traversing flat countryside that was full of holiday homes :(

Spotted this place just off our route near Sigginstown

A bit about the pic below
Barrystown
Driving down by the estuary, there is a tall red brick chimney on higher ground. This is attached to the engine house of a steam pump and is all that remains of a lead and silver mine, which ceased operation in 1851. Mining in this area had its origins in the 1530’s, when silver deposits at Clonmines were exploited to supply the Irish Mint. However, many setbacks hampered operations throughout the centuries and the mines were finally abandoned

By now it was getting too dark for photos & a short while later it also got too dark for continuing the recce so we knocked it on the head & headed to our respective homes. A great day out, lets hope we get lots more like it :bounce1:bounce1

Excellent
Looks like you picked up one or two possible photo rally opportunities. Where is the first castle and the brick chimney?
I went out cycling yesterday - it was a spring day in January; took the GS for a gallop on Saturday.
