Went to scotland with 3 friends, Wilbr21, bluesweeper and alan13579. Now i have ridden bikes on 3 diferent continents and i have to say that scotland has roads and views to rival anywhere in the world!! as those who have been there will testify. We used a local to plan us a route for each day and they didnt disappoint, they were usually between 200 and 300 miles each day with a mixture of roads to satisfy all.We camped at fort augustus and used the weather forcast to decide what order to do the rides, here are a few photos that we took.
early morning views of the loche
the beach on the loche
some snow on them hills
the first ride involved a ferry crossing which was very exciting for some members of the group
what awaited on the other side green lush and proper gs roads
a tourist standing in the middle of the road, what must the locals think?! actually there didnt seem to be any locals!!
the sun was shinning no one around so swimming in the sea was called for and lovely it was too
they look like they are waiting for the tide to refloat them
had to catch another ferry to skye to complete the lap of the penisular, all this and its only day 1
day 2 and more views and stunning roads
every where you looked there was some thing to take your breath away
did i say the weather was great, the locals said it was always like this
scotlands very own stelvio pass at apple cross
some zen rock art
we didnt feel we were at the top when we saw the radio mast and an inviting track up to it
most of us got up there but it was steeper an looser than it looked from the bottom and nearly involved mountain rescue!!
more padling and toristy behavior
here is a man who isnt troubled by much
and god bless him bob carrys every thing for all eventualities on that bike
a mountain that looks like a tit
we had some dificultys with bike to bike coms, alan recons 3 of us had fawlty radios, but they worked fine when we unplugged his!!!
could you just point out where we are on the map please
more views that you could never get tired of looking at
if you are touring on a hp2 then all you need is a mate to carry 5 ltres of fuel for emergancys, and 3 ltres in the tank bag, and one litre in the tail pack then your sorted
purple grouse moors just waiting for the glorious 12th
and last but not least GLEN COE probably the most impresive place you can ride a bike bar none
just like to thank the guys for a great week we laughed so much that the tears rundown our cheeks and rode some of the best roads in europe, thanks to pipex for the routes to xxx
