Today could have been a good day. Money to spend on new riding kit and thoughts of a new bike took me over to Coopers.
Unfortunately they werent;
1/prepared to look at kit with me ('thats done by parts, they close in 10 mins so you had best get a move on')
2/get off their a....s to give a part ex quote on my old 2 yr old BMW.

Im kind of used to this as Ive been there before when they were Mill BMW ( took a F800S for a test ride and it ran out of fuel 3 miles down the road !) but the ride back got me thinking -
Perhaps the money comes in so easy for these guys that they they can afford to treat customers like this, but thats not how my money comes in and even if it was I wouldnt treat people like that.
Had a good look round Newcastle and got sorted out with which kit to buy and a possible new bike and guess what- none of my hard earned dosh will be going their way again.:beerjug:

Oh for Gods sake, this really fcuking winds me up....yeah,they exist purely because they ignore every idiot who walks in through the door. They make money by not talking to anyone, not paying attention to anyone and not trying to sell anything. You have a tongue in your head don't you???...why not walk in there, make eye contact with someone, and say "How are you?..I feel like buying a new bike and some gear today, how can you help me??

They're only fcuking human...play the game:D

Rokket- oooohhhh sorry - didnt mean to wind you up.
I have a tongue in my head am not an idiot and am able to deal with most folk but I do know when Im in converation with a muppet ( this current dialog springs to mind for example).
Perhaps you could drag yourself oop north and offer some free training to these poor folk . Your style would certainly fit in at COOPERS BMW SUNDERLAND

Just been there this morning...SWMBO wanted a demo on a low 1200gs..

Could,nt have been more helpfull, offered a good px on her bike...still mulling the figures over..:thumb

Only bad bit was the 2.5k damage exess, luckly did,nt come into play though :P

Seemed friendly enough and very keen to do buisness :nenau

Only speaking as I found :augie

Rokket- oooohhhh sorry - didnt mean to wind you up.

Well Colon, you did....I'm sorry, but people who join internet forums just to slag off dealers who didn't suck your dick as soon as you walked in the door, really fcuking wind me up.
Get the big chip off your shoulder, and buy what you want to buy.

Colin Take yourself down to Rainbow in Rotherham

You can make a nice days run out of it

I think they do close on Monday though

And that's a recommendation from an Irish Feller from over the water!

I'd be Very Happy to go and see them down there for another bike!

In fact I must mention to Shaun to become a site sponsor as we do tend to give him a big up on here!

.

Im kind of used to this as Ive been there before when they were Mill BMW ( took a F800S for a test ride and it ran out of fuel 3 miles down the road !) :

You try wearing the shoe on the other foot - my loan bike goes out full up, and usually gets returned not filled.

So now it goes out empty and people have to put in what they're going to use.

Thank christ you aren't a customer of mine, i'd tell you to feck off. :bounce1

Hey guys this is getting a bit silly.
If I ask a BMW sales rep to compare relative merits of BMW rider kit and tell me their prices I would like them to tear themselves away from their computer and do so.
If I ask about part exchange values I would like some approx figures.
Thats not what I got today ,previously and is the reason I have used Blue Bell (Crewe)or Barrie Robson (York) in the past.
enab- hope you get a good deal and glad you got better treatment than I did
jaythro- thanks Ill pop in there some time Ive heard good reports
rokket- whats the name of the dealer you know who does the dick sucking ? this must make life down South more interesting and explain why you are so defensive about them in general.
Im outa here

what credit crunch ,no need to try and sell there bikes they must want to go bust !!!!

Coopers at Sunderland are good dealers. They can probably tell a Knobber when they see one. :D

Feck me....

you must av got bad service if ya think Barrie Robsons better...

:hide:D

Regardless of what's happened for Colin (above), the guys at Coopers Sunderland have been spot on for me, so far.

Got a great part-ex on my Dakar, they handled the order and delivery of my 08 GS12 superbly, and each time I've had a problem they have been there to sort it as fast as possible.

I'll admit they seemed a little 'stand-offish' when I first went in (and I didn't consider buying from them for a couple of years because of that :thedummy- ended up buying in Edinburgh BMW instead 18 months ago), but just diving in and asking them the relevant questions gets their attention.

The thing I dislike about most BMW dealers I go into is the lack of gear and clothing display. I like to look and touch stuff before I make a decision - so Coopers Sunderland definitely gets low marks on that score. Go to the parts desk - tie the guy up bringing out one item at a time for you to try-on whilst holding up the parts que, is definitely an experience I wont repeat!

But the service from Paul when trying to get something sorted (service, recall stuff, parts fitted etc) is second to none IMHO. And Steve - the sales exec I deal with is really friendly and supportive. As an owner - not sure I need any more than that:)!

They are good guys over there so I think Colins experience is not the norm.

I think the moral here is.......................

BMW Motorrad dealers who also sell BMW cars are a bit more blase about service, although I can only speak highly of Vines in Guildford (300 miles from me) - the deal over the phone and subsequent bike collection is spot on - Duncan there was spot on the the bike side had plenty of space to display all the stuff (unlike Coopers @ Sunderland who operate the Bike side from a glorified conservatory)

On the other hand................BMW Motorrad dealers who only sell BMW bikes - Rainbow/Jefferies/Robson/BVM/Balderston/Pidcocks from personal experience of those listed are 100% interested in you and your requirements

Therefore I only use the Bike only BMW dealers

and

never been to coopers .but just maybe the bloke was having a off day and he wanted to get home for his diner , we all have them

but first impressions last and we all have the choice of where we spend our money,

so get over it and move on is what i say
