#On the 10th day of Christmas...# ... I'm going to work off some turkey and mince pies by taking a bimble around some Hertfordshire lanes.

Relaxed pace and we'll find a pub for a lunchtime warm-up and nosebag.

No idea of where we'll go or what the terrain will be like, but drag out your pogos and your Bimmers of all sizes and let's have a great day. It'll be loads better than watching The Great Escape yet again!

Put me down as a possible - assuming I don't trash my bike on Salisbury Plain a few days before this ride :D

Ok, I'll be there. It would be rude not to be there and witness Greg's new toy getting covered in mud.

Hey Greg, don't forget to take your wing mirrors off:augie

I'l sweep for you. I need the exercise lifting BMW's

(though i might make a foray upfield to roost a few old friends on new KTM's .......Phil :augie)

I'd love to but my bike's not road legal until 1 January.

The river was 'The Old Bourne' to the East of Bennigton - There are no pictures because once you enter you are lost untill you come out even though there is another track that runs 10 feet above and beside it in many place (those where you will come to a cropper) you cannot see through the undergrowth.

I reccied some of it on foot today!

Dave, you and I have ridden this lane many times. I really can't understand what all the fuss was about!

:D

And we'll have a bit of Standon Ford that Wreford posted in the 1 November report:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQy2bL_7g-o&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQy2bL_7g-o&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I've ridden my DR-Z through there a few times - but Wreford's bike would be drowned! (there is an easy go-around)

Then we'll do a bit of Furneux Pelham :eek (we won't do it if it's as deep as this video)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gSHW5pdhne4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gSHW5pdhne4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Then the Old Bourne:

This bit is across the road and is actually a RUPP:

OK - details to follow, but I got a route worked out - about 60 miles with 18 off-road sections.

There will be no fords (deeper than puddle-sized)! I will include the Old Bourne, but, as Wreford pointed out, the river bed has an easy go-around just a few feet away.

The route should be perfectly fine for a well ridden GS - but if the going is heavy, TKCs might be de rigueur.

We'll start and finish at SBW Motorrad in Hertford. They should be open that morning - and I believe that they have a free vend tea/coffee machine.

Please arrive with enough fuel to ride about 60 miles and ready to leave at about 09.30hrs.

Any questions?

Greg

I've spoken with Stephen Crowder, the Dealer Principal at SBW Motorrad.

The dealership will be open on 3rd January and he promises teas and coffees before we ride off and maybe a mince pie for those who manage to get around the ride!

Hopefully Stephen (or one of his team) will join us on their G450X demonstrator!

Super Enduro R has agreed to reccie the route between now and the New Year to ensure that, as far as possible, it's fully GS-able.

See you all on the 3rd!

Greg
