Hello

I bought a used BM836 Ohlins. Now I need to adjust it to my weight. (I probably also need a new spring)

To were should I send it? The guys that are representing ohlins in Portugal don't have any idea what they should do....

thanks

Contact these guys. http://www.ohlins-suspension.co.uk/about.htm They should be able to give you any advice you need.

You need to get the springs that are rated for your weight with gear.

Cheers

hello

So should I only buy the spring or the shock itself should also be adjusted for my weight? Do the valves also change accordingly to the rider weight? Or they are only adjusted?

thanks

The spring should be correct for the weight of the driver and the load.
The preload of the spring is then adjusted to maintain the correct ride height.

No preload = solo rider. Up to full preload for you and your luggage and your girl... depending how big she is:D

The valving controls the action of the damping/rebound of the shock. If you have the unit overhauled, they should check the valving and replace the seals.

For a 12 to 14 stone rider Ohlins supply a #80 spring- 450 lb/in with 17 mm preload and damping 10 clicks out from full..

They do not advise changing the preload more than 2 mm either way - the actual sag figure is not that critical.

What is important is that the rider sag at the rear is around 10 % less than at the front.
